Richard Strauss’ Salomé

Richard Strauss’ opera Salomé is a powerful one-act modernist opera, written in 19, based on the play by Oscar Wilde. It tells the story of Salomé, whose fascination with the imprisoned prophet Jochanaan leads to obsession and tragedy. Known for its intense drama, rich orchestration, and the famous “Dance of the Seven Veils,” the opera remains a landmark of twentieth-century music.
