During the 2026–2027 season, the MPO has commemorated the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death with a series of concerts presented throughout the season. Performances in the Beethoven200 series were conducted by the internationally acclaimed German conductor Wolfram Christ.
Playfulness meets triumph in this all-Beethoven symphonic evening – the last one of the series. Symphony No. 8 delights with wit and elegance before the legendary Symphony No. 5 unfolds with dramatic force, rhythmic urgency, and one of the most iconic musical journeys ever composed.
