Variations

Variations, arranged by pianist and composer Simon Parkin, re-imagine Bach’s Goldberg Variations through the styles of jazz, swing, blues, and stride piano. Far more than a parody, the work translates Bach’s intricate counterpoint into a modern rhythmic language, blending Baroque structure with rich jazz harmonies. Performed by Joanne Camilleri and Gabi Sultana, who bring a formidable synergy to the stage, the piece offers a vibrant musical journey, from the reflective opening Aria to the energetic Quodlibet, celebrating the timeless adaptability of great music.
