Classical and Contemporary Colours

Despite being inherently Classical, Beethoven’s Symphony no. 1 boasts innovative orchestration with unique textures and harmonisation. Conducted by Christopher Muscat, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra performs riveting works by Maltese composers, Albert Garzia’s Scent and Veronique Vella’s Fine Line, and is joined by prominent Greek pianist Kostantinos Destounis for Ravel’s dazzling Piano Concerto in G. The audience is transported to Fingal’s Cave with Mendelssohn’s gem Hebrides Overture. This concert is part of Teatru Manoel’s Modern Music Days series.
